When you lose someone...
When you lose someone very dear to you it is very hard to think straight and still try to find what you need to celebrate their life. One of the things I found most comforting was specially written funeral readings - it made speaking in public much easier at the time when my emotions were running high. In my research I came across a few ideas that helped me - I hope they will help you too.
Funeral Readings
form of emotional relief with huge positive effect
Many people read out funeral readings when they come together at the funeral, because it's got huge positive effect. Something which is beautifully written and sensible expressed can have incredible soothing effect on the bereaving. It can really help people to cope with the lost of the beloved person. There are many funeral readings. Some people choose to write them themselves and some prefer to just quote a William Shakespeare or some famous poem. But in any case funeral readings serve like an celebration of the person who died and help to the mourning.
For every person grief is the most difficult to face and the loss of someone who we cared about is very hard to cope. Only time can heal such grief. However, if there are words of comfort sometimes they can help the mourners by giving them a different perspective of the miserable event. We learn to cope with the situation at least temporarily. Writing and reading funeral readings is very good for the grieving family until the funeral process is complete. It is a form of emotional relief.

There is a great deal of funeral readings which are written by famous poets. At the same time there are also lots of funeral readings which are written by anonymous people and they are great. If you know the person very well you can write about him/her in your own words too. However make sure that it is not overwhelming, because it might upset the bereaving family. A poem should be written very gently and sensitively.
Writing about a person who is no longer alive is very difficult and writing about their death is even worse. A funeral readings should be not just writing down your feelings, but short story about the person and their journey through the life. People should realize through the poem that they lived with a kind soul and great person.
