Mindanao Bloggers Summit by Aice Nice Concepts
The very first Bloggers Summit in Mindanao was held in Davao City. A history in the making for all bloggers in the Philippines not only Mindanaowans ^_^ but all the members of Mindanao Bloggers who loves Mindanao!
There were more than 90 participants, watch out for the next Bloggers Summit in your area next year... (^_^)
The 2nd Mindanao Bloggers Summit MBS2
The awaited event
General Santos City, the Convention Capital of Region XII, will be the site of the biggest gathering of bloggers everywhere in Philippines - the 2nd Mindanao Bloggers Summit or MBS-2NAME OF EVENT:
The 2nd Mindanao Bloggers Summit (MBS 2)
THEME:
Mindanawan: Paminawon Intawon. Blogging the Mindanao Consciousness
DATE:
October 25, 2008, Saturday, and October 26, 2008 Sunday
during the GenSan E-Business Week of the DTI and the city government.
From the organizers of the 1st Mindanao Bloggers Summit held last September in Davao City organize by Blogie Robillo, and his group, The Usual Suspects, now they are celebrating in the Tuna Capital City
The positive response of young people from Socsksargen to that seminar led Aethen and seminar speakers Hecky MiƱoza, Bro. Vince Celeste, FMS, Ariel Lalisan, together with Gensan Trade portal owners Job and Liezl Oberio, photobuff Toto Lozano, Website designer Dennis Paul Custorio, and teacher Sandra Bonrusto to go a step higher - host an even bigger event, this time to be held in Gen-San.
The First Mindanao Bloggers Summit in Davao drew more than 150 participants and so to reach that record, we have invited nationally-famous bloggers (along with Mindanao-based personalities) to make up the exciting list of resource speakers.
One who confirmed to be talking on the summit is the Inquirer columnist and Cable TV's The Explainer, Manuel L. Quezon III himself that "It would be an honor to attend, please let me know the details."
And since this is GenSan, the Tuna Capital of the Philippines, our culmination activity will be the most-sought after among visitors, the SASHIMI NIGHT!
Now, if those aren't more than enough reasons to be in GenSan, for the 2nd Mindanao Bloggers Summit on October 25, 2008 I really don't know what else will be.

History of Blogger
Blogs blogs baby ^_^

First publishing tool I use was "Blogger" created by Pyra Labs, which was bought by Google in 2003. Blogs can either be hosted internally by Blogger on the blogspot.com Internet domain, on a user's own domain, or externally on the users' own server (through FTP or SFTP). Once a blog name has been reserved, the name assignment and any contents are retained for an indefinite time there is no need to login periodically or take any action to keep the blog active. Blogger's blogs also support HTML, CSS and JavaScript as well as YouTube videos can be posted.
History of Wordpress
A little history

WordPress launched in 2003 with a single bit of code to improve the typography of everyday writing and with fewer users than you can count on your fingers and toes. Since then it has developed to be the largest self-hosted blogging tool in the world. It is an OpenSource project, which means there are hundreds of people all over the world working on it.
WordPress was born out of a desire for an elegant, well-architectured personal publishing system built on PHP and MySQL and licensed under the GPL. It is the official successor of b2/cafelog. WordPress is fresh software, but its roots and development go back to 2001. It is a mature and stable product. We hope by focusing on user experience and web standards we can create a tool different from anything else out there.
Just recently we are now on Wordpress version 2.3
History of Joomla
OpenSourceMatters

Joomla came from the result of a fork of Mambo by all of the core developers on August 17, 2005. That time, the Mambo name was the trademarked by Miro International Pty Ltd, which formed a non-profit foundation with the stated purpose to fund the project and protect it from lawsuits. The development team claimed that many of the provisions of the foundation structure went against previous agreements made by the elected Mambo Steering Committee, lacked the necessary consultation with key stake holders, and included provisions that violated core open source values.
The development team created a web site called OpenSourceMatters to distribute information to web designers, developers, users, and the community in general. The project team leader at the time Andrew Eddie, A.K.A. "MasterChief" (who rejoined the team as of 15 August 2007), wrote an open letter to the community that appeared on the announcements section of the public forum at mamboserver.com

Bloggers Summit
NCCC Mall of Davao at fourth floor in Convention Center. The first ever Mindanao Bloggers Summit was held with Abe Olandres (Yugatech.com), Andrew Dela Cerna, Bob Martin, Marc Macalua (SEO Philippines) and Jayvee Fernandez. This article is all about blog, blogging and Mindanao Bloggers experiences written by Aice Nice Concepts according to her experience on that Bloggers' Summit at NCCC Mall of Davao. This is the first Bloggers Summit I have attended and every moment was memorable. The admission was free you only need to post the desired article and sponsors on your blog ^_^

Anyway, here are the details as far as I can remember ^_^
syempre Since me and my office mate Cesar was the first bloggers who came at the scene and I was the one who sign at the attendance sheet so my number was 0001 and my office mate was 0002, as in there were no other visitors except us or maybe there was but I just didn't notice... basta kami yun una nag-attendance.. Imagine exactly 9am both of us were there at NCCC Mall of Davao, I saw Blogie Robillo was still arranging and the rest of the organizers are setting up and making sure everything works just fine... So the First speech was with Blogie Robillo there he is at the photo
then afterwards, Councilor Peter Lavina held the speech he talks about "Blogging and Participatory Governance" he also mentioned na si YugaTech was the one who taught him to blog and he let us see his first blog he made at the presentation. And also he said that "cellphones are now free! when you subscribe to a certain network" meaning you only pay the services of it but the hardware is Free so maybe in the near future, Computers may get FREE if you just subscribe to the IP service provider, he also joke that "kaya siguro wala yun mga kabataan dito kasi umuwi sa province for SK elections ^_^"
pagkatapos niya speech next was, Bob Martin of Mindanao.com wow amazing man! all I can say is that he walks to almost all parts of Mindanao he shared a lot of experiences through his speech "Blogging in Mindanao, Travel and Technology" after he talked I really can't forget siya yun naka-hulog ng microphone ^_^ kasi ang lakas ng tunog eh naka-ON pa yun Mic... then he got to the slide show were he let us see all the pictures (the memorable ones) meron pa nga siya na mention "bahay kubo" that he likes that house so much but his wife wanted more fancy than that! and everybody laughs ^_^ he is such a funny guy and there was pictures of churches and natives nakita niya sa daan and he took a shot with him basta all of his pictures are really amazing.
Who are the rest of speakers?
Then after him followed by Father Alejo have the presentation on "Socio-Cultural Mindset of the Mindanaoan" I can remember he said that "we are Blogging for Culture Understanding" bale to understand each other culture mababasa natin yun mga blogs ng ibat-ibang tao sa mundo .
I can't remember so much because I was so sleepy at this time ^_^
afterwards, we have lunch Dimsum Diner served lumpia, fried chicken, pancit bihon and iced tea.
then after lunch there was a speech: Kim Castillo talk about her transformation from "Emo Blogging to Niche Blogging"
followed by si Jayvee Fernandez about "Blogging as a Way of Life, Problogging & New Media" ang gwapo ng boses.. pang DJ ang dating eh
tapos niya si Marc Macalua gave the tactics on "How Writers Make Money Online" the SEO Philippines sayang wala kami picture together!
meron akong speech niya na record ko in wav format weeiii! ^_^
then afterwards, we have the open forum between Jayvee, Marc, Kuya Andrew, Abe, and Bob
eto here are the shot:
I also won the HOSTING with DOMAIN name of my choice from NoKiAHosting weeeiii 0001 yun last tinawag nanalo!!! and I was so lucky to finish the summit because around 2pm I was really so sleepy that I feel like floating and imagining sleeping in my bed (para na akong lasing).
Latest update I only won a 1 year domain name pala.. with No hosting. :(
see you around Next Year meron daw event around March 2008, and the Next Bloggers Summit!

Hosting Wordpress
the easy way
Server requirements
WordPress server requirements for Version 2.5:
- PHP version 4.3 or greater
- MySQL version 4.0 or greater
- (Optional) Apache mod_rewrite module (for clean URIs known as Permalinks)
WordPress server requirements for Versions 2.1, 2.2, 2.3:
* PHP version 4.2 or greater
* MySQL version 4.0 or greater
* (Optional) Apache mod_rewrite module (for clean URIs known as Permalinks)
WordPress server requirements for Version 2.0:
* PHP version 4.2 or greater
* MySQL version 3.23.23 or greater
* (Optional) Apache mod_rewrite module (for clean URIs known as Permalinks)
Recommended setup
We recommend Linux with either the Apache or LiteSpeed web-servers as the most robust platforms for running WordPress, but any server that supports PHP and MySQL will do. If your host doesn't support one of these platforms, and mod_rewrite, you will probably be better off switching to one of the many hosting providers that do offer those choices.
It is also essential that your host allows remote connections.
Hosting providers
Hosting is a commodity these days and with a little digging it's easy to find a host that supports the above. If you're looking for hosting suggestions, please try:
* WordPress Recommended Hosts - these hosts support WordPress, in more ways than one.
* Searching the WordPress support forums for recommendations
Install4Free - WordPress installed for free on your host!
If you have a hosting provider or website which meets all the requirements, but don't feel comfortable doing the installation yourself, request a free installation at WordPress Install4Free.
