Visiting Europe

Europe and her civilizations have seen many changes over the centuries and they continue up to this day. Europe enjoys at best, its diverse cultures like no other continent and any traveller can join in the fun and differences. Indeed the French are famous for exclaiming "Vive La Difference!"

Travelling through Europe you can enjoy the peoples from Gaelic and Nordic backgrounds through Gallic, Germanic and Hispanic cultures in the west. Eastern.Europe is far more open to visitors recently particularly Bulgaria, the Czech Republic, Hungary and Croatia, while Austria , Swizterland, Italy and Greece remain as popular as ever.

Each of these countries are enjoyable year round and variously offer both winter and summer activities to suit all tastes and budgets. In Europe, despite its modern structures and often hectic lifestyles allows history to envelope you at every turn. London with its famous Houses of Parliament, Paris' Eiffel Tower, Rome's Coliseum are merely parts of the rich tapestry that is Europe.

Europe is easily accessible by air with many new international airports opening making your particular destination so much more accessible. Scratching the surface, you can hire cars to explore the lesser known parts where you will be greeted with open arms at hotels, hostels, restaurants and bars throughout these ancient lands. It is always helpful and fun to try speaking a few words of your host country and it goes a long way to breaking the ice with your hosts.

Winter sports are famously centred around the Alps although Bulgaria and Spain offer creditable and cheaper alternatives that tend to be less crowded. The Mediterranean countries offer summer holidays at the beach of course and you can avoid the roasting masses by driving a few minutes in either direction of the most popular resorts. By renting your accommodation a few kilometers inland you will open up a completely different perspective and be more in touch with the locals thereby making your stay that much more memorable.

Golfers are magnetically drawn to southern Spain year round while Eire (Ireland) attracts clients from around the globe to its wonderful lush courses and links. Equally sailing enthusiasts have a vast choice ranging from the Baltic, the Atlantic and Mediterranean, not to mention the plethora of inland waterways. Walkers, hikers and campers can find magnificent vistas throughout Europe whether you seek challenges or the more tranquil pace. While staying in the major capitals a city pass will give you access to all the popular attractions at a fraction of the normal cost. Typically they cover amusement parks, museums and art galleries and give you VIP status as you will not be required to queue or stand in line.

Eating across Europe holds delights for all palates. Apart from the obvious, some of the finest dining can be found in the most obscure places. A tip would be to ask a local and you will no doubt be pleasantly surprised. If your language skills do not stretch to this then be observant and watch where they go! The regional variations are developed according to the local conditions and are a matter of considerable pride, so while eating and drinking enjoy the variety even if you may be unfamiliar with what it is. As the old saying goes, "When in Rome, do as the Romans do"

Whatever your preferences, from the majestic mountains, the sandy beaches, the languid rivers, the scorched deserts or wide open plains, Europe will welcome you and accommodate you in grand style.
