Do these things really work?

I'm a full time college student and I also work full time but I still live paycheck to paycheck. I seem to have lots of free time at my job and spend most of it on the internet so I have seen all of those ads out there spewing about ways you can make $1000's a day and become super rich. Of course we all know thats not true and even if you find a way to make money it's usually not very much.

One day I signed up for one of those 'get paid to read emails' sites just because I had time and didn't have anything better to do. Guess what? I'm not a multi-billionare and I still live paycheck to paycheck. BUT.. I have earned $12 and some odd cents so far. Not much but hey, it's $12 more then I used to have and I have th free time to read a few emails a day.

Earning some money got me thinking (and no I didn't hurt myself). Can the other sites actually get you anything too? So with my free time I will be getting in touch with my inner scientist and doing an ongoing experiment to see what sites work, what sites don't and exactly how much you could possibly earn. I plan to go into the details and completing my list could take time, so bookmark my page and check back for more lenses and to see exactly how the experiments going!

UPDATE

So I've been doing this program for a few moths now and have yet to put up and update so here it is!

I have made over $60 with InboxDollars! I used $30 dollars of that to upgrade my mebership to Gold Membership (Gold membership get you more referals). I cashed out the other $30 and got the check about a week or two ago. Whe I requested the check online they were very fast at sending out to my house, it took about a week or less to get it from the time I requested it! I am very pleased at this!
I've learned alot since I started! I learned that by reading a few paid ads you will end up getting more ads in your mailbox, the more you read they better they like you! I also learned that while referals only earn you $.01 per email read it can add up quickly if you have several devoted referals!
Inbox Dollars has changed some things. I mentioned earlier about being a Gold Memeber, I paid to become a Gold Memebr but they have changed the program so that you don't have to pay anymore. You just have to recieve your first check from them and you'll automatically be a Gold Member. The benifits of being a Gold Member include having your check processed quicker, getting double swepstakes entries, and gaining extra referals from people who sign up and weren't refered by anyone. They also claim that they will be adding new benifits in the months to come so we'll see!
Another new thing about the site is that they are startiing to use a new format when it comes to emailing you. Instead of you clicking on the link in the email and being redirected to the InboxDollars site where you would click on another link and go to the actual advertisers site, you simply click the link in the email and your there! I'm really enjoying this new feature as I usually tear through my emails quickly (you don't really have to read the ads if you don't want to!) and that would leave me with mutiple windows open all over my desktop, this definitly helps cut down on that!

Well thats it for now! But InboxDollars is promoting the idea that new exciting things are to come so I will continue updating you whenever it happens!

Inbox Dollars

Inbox Dollars is the first paid email site that I tried and so far it doesn't seem that bad. Of course your not gonna become a millionare from it either!

How It Works

You sign up on their website and recieve a conformation email relatively quickly. You will get a $5 signup bonus which shows up in your account right away.

Paid Emails

You of course get paid to read emails.They will send about two to three emails to your email adress a day. You click on the link in the email and it will open a new window with a simple ad on it. You don't have to go to anyone else's website you just look at this little ad on the inbox dollars website. Underneath the ad there is a link that will say something like "click here to confirm this email" You click it and another window opens with the actual advertizers website incase you were interested in the ad, but you don't have to do anything with the website. And that's it! You get paid about 3 to 5 cents per email read.

Paid Searches

Inbox Dollars also offers paid searches. You just enter a search word and another window pops up with your search results from snap.com (which is actullay a cool search engine that lets you see a snapshot of the website before you click on it's link). You are alowed to do 2 paid searches a day and each search will earn you 2 cents.

Paid Surveys

You can complete one survey a day and earn $1 for that survey. You often won't qualify for the first survey but they will keep giving you surveys until you qualify for finishing one of them.

Refering Friends

You can refer your friends on the website or you can use your link on your website to refer people to join under your name. You get a percentage of the amount they make from doing anything on the site. Referals are only 1 tiered but they provide you with banners and links to use for advertisment.

Other Offers

There are other offers on the website such as Cash Offers, where you can sign up for offers and get paid an amount for each offer. There are Cash Games in which you go to a sponsors website and pay cash to play games but you earn cash from inbox dollars for the cash you pay these guys.There is Cash Shopping in which you can shop for stuff online and get rebates and coupons for percentgaes off if you shop at one of the sponsors sites.

Payout

You get a check for every $30 you earn.

$0.10 - emails
$0.04 - searches
$1.00 - Survey
$1.14 - Total pay per day
