BUY NEW:If you have the capital or can get financing then a brand new RV is definitely the way to go. Each season bigger and better models are hitting the market for ever more luxurious and comfortable with new and better accessories.
These are extremely high priced but are well worth it if you can afford it.
USED RV DEALERS:Buying this way you have the advantage of buying second hand but with the added security that a dealership offers such as guarantees and financing plans. You should take care when buying here though as all of the vehicles are used and some have substantial wear and tare. This will however be hidden and masked by paint jobs and glimmering clean conditions. Try to see through the sparkle and imagine what the vehicle will look like in 12 months from now.
For extra due diligence you should read the
RV Buyer's Guide.
BUY PRIVATELY:This is one of the most cost effective ways to purchase and if care is taken you may get a bargain when purchasing your RV this way. Private buyers can be found online and in the RV press. Please make sure you know what you are doing when buying. Remember, you are not just buying a vehicle, you are buying a home too. There are so many things to factor in when you are buying. It is essential you get some guidance. Use the
RV Buyer's Guide.
BUY AT A SEIZED OR 'REPO' AUCTION:This is by far the best way to obtain the best quality motorhome at the lowest price. At the seized auctions the majority of the lots seem to be of the highest quality, very new, hardly used and with all extras and accessories fitted. The bidding on these items starts ridiculously low and true bargains are often found. So long as you don't go over your own ceiling price in the bidding then you will most likely be able to obtain an excellent motorhome at a fantastic price.
There is a web site that offers access to the auction lists databases. The
Seized Vehicle Auctions site has a section especially for RVs and motorhomes. You can bid on seized vehicles from $100.
