Most Common Signs of Diabetes 

  • Numbness or Tingling in the Extremities i.e. Hand and Feet.
  • Weakness and Fatigue.
  • Frequent Urination.
  • Thirst that is simply unquenchable.

Human Trials to Begin on 'diabetes cure' after terminally ill mice are cured

Most diabetes sufferers could be cured within four years if a revolutionary treatment involving the BCG vaccine works, scientists said yesterday.

A human clinical trial with hopes of finding a cure for type 1 diabetes is to start at a leading American research hospital using BCG, universally given for many years in Britain to prevent tuberculosis.

Honey could save Diabetics from Amputation

Spreading honey on a diabetic ulcer could prevent the need to amputate an infected foot, researchers say.

A doctor at the University of Wisconsin who helped about half a dozen of her diabetic patients avoid amputation has launched a controlled trial to promote the widespread use of honey therapy.

Study Links Diabetes and High Fructose Corn Syrup Found in Soda

A new study released Thursday suggests sodas sweetened with high fructose corn syrup may contribute to the development of diabetes. The study from researchers at Rutgers University, shows sodas sweetened with high fructose corn syrup contain high levels of compounds that previous research suggests may play a role in the development of diabetes. Especially when consumed in large amounts.

Dr. Ronald Cobbs is not affiliated with the latest study, but treats obese and diabetic patients at North General Hospital in Harlem. He believes the sweetener can pose a health risk just like sugar. "It's just a cheaper substitute for sugar. And they feel they can drink a lot of it and they are getting overweight because of it and diabetic because of it," said Cobbs. Obesity Surgury May Cure Diabetes for Many.

CHICAGO (AP) - A new study gives the strongest evidence yet that obesity surgery can cure diabetes. Patients who had surgery to reduce the size of their stomachs were five times more likely to see their diabetes disappear over the next two years than were patients who had standard diabetes care, according to Australian researchers. Coffee may make Diabetes Worse.

Caffeine content of coffee can vary with brands and brewing methods. Daily consumption of caffeine in coffee, tea or soft drinks increases blood sugar levels for people with type 2 diabetes, research suggests.
Caffeine pills equivalent to four cups of coffee a day increased blood sugar levels by 8% over the day, US researchers report in Diabetes Care. Read the complete article here.

Benefits of Tai Chi on Type 2 Diabetes: New Research Validates Ancient Practice

Seems almost daily that we now hear about alternative healing practices finding recognition in traditional circles of western science and medicine. Just today, Science Daily released findings (originally published in British Journal of Sports Medicine) based on the work of a research team that studied from impact of Tai Chi on Type 2 Diabetes. The group wanted to assess what if any improvements can be made using Tai Chi to alleviate conditions associated with Type 2 Diabetes including chronic inflammation, caused by excessive glucose in the blood (hyperglycaemia). The teams 12 week study included assessment of 30 patients with Type 2 Daibetes and 30 healthy people of the same age. Read more
