YayFood Reviews | Does Rachel Rofe Know What She's Talking About?

Yay Food is a diet which was created by Rachel Rofe.

Hi, I'm John. Due to my extensive writing on diet and fitness issues (perhaps you've read one of my many articles) Rachel Rofe emailed me and asked me to write a review of YayFood. She even supplied me with a username to check out the entire resource package which her diet offers.

So I decided to do just that.

On this webpage I'll review this diet extensively. What it does, what is it based on, what's included in the membership, whether or not you should use it, the pros and cons of this diet, and alternatives to it.

Keep reading this review to discover exactly what Yay Food is all about...

How Was Yay Food Created

Yay Food was created by Rachel Rofe, a woman who lost over 100 pounds. The picture you can see to the side is her "before" picture (a little further below is her "after" picture).

After struggling to lose weight on a variety of fad diets, and deprivation diets (I'll explain a little more about them below), she decided to try her own version of calorie shifting (or as she calls it, calorie cycling). The results are indeed impressive.

After sharing her new success and method with other people, and seeing that they were getting results, she turned her method into a website and diet membership club. You can see more of her story on this website: www.YayFood.com

Calorie Shifting Vs. Deprivation Diets

(this is the after picture of Rachel Rofe)

You may have been through this scenario: You start using a diet, manage to lose some weight, feel happy, and then the weight loss stops. You don't know what's going on, and you try harder to lose weight. Then, to your dismay, you see that you've begun to gain the weight back. In the end, you're right back where you started if not even fatter.

If you've been through that, you probably tried a deprivation diet, or, as I like to call them: low-something diets. In this group are the low calorie, low fat, low carb, etc. diets. All these diets deprive your body of something in the hopes that it will cause you to lose weight. It may do so in the beginning, but the side effect is that your metabolism is slowing down more and more.

You see, out metabolism is designed to protect us when it believes we're starving which is exactly what happens when we deprive our body of something or eat too little. The slower our metabolism is, the slower we burn fat. This is why you may lose weight in the beginning with deprivation diets, but slowly see that weight loss stop as your metabolism slows down.

This is where Calorie Shifting comes into play. By shifting the types of calories that you eat, you can 'trick' your metabolism into believing that you're not really dieting at all.

Of course, not every kind of food is allowed, but you get to eat a reasonable amount of food each day of every food group, and you may also 'cheat' once in a while to eat your favorite foods.

Important Note:
YayFood is indeed based on calorie shifting, but it wasn't the first diet to utilize this method.

The first diet is the well known Fat Loss 4 Idiots Diet. You can, and should, read a review about this diet (which is excellent) on this webpage: Fat Loss 4 Idiots Review.

Yay Food Membership

YayFood is a membership club diet. This means that you pay a monthly fee and receive access to a great deal of resources which can help you on your way. Here is what's included:

  • Members Forum

  • Diet and fitness articles

  • Personal diaries

  • Motivation section

  • Reports

  • Access to Rachel Rofe herself

You can read more about it here: YayFood.com.

Yay Food Pros and Cons

YayFood has both pros and cons.

Pros:

  • A membership club so you have active support

  • So far there aren't too many members so the diet administrators have more time for each member

  • You get access to a lot of resources

  • The membership fee is affordable

  • People get impressive results with this diet

Cons:
  • You pay a monthly fee and not a one time fee. That's what a club means

  • The membership's website was redone a while ago, so it does need some fattening up in terms of more content

  • The one thing which people don't like is the monthly fee (Even though the support should be worth it).

If you want to use a diet which works on calorie shifting and has only a one time fee, use Fat Loss 4 Idiots.

    Final Note

    That's it for me.

I hope this review of YayFood has been useful for you. I wish you the best of luck in your weight loss efforts.

    John
